The Round Lake Police Department conducted additional traffic enforcement from December 16 to January 2, reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, day or night, as part of the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” / “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement effort.
Round Lake Police joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by issuing citations to unbuckled motorists and arresting impaired drivers.
During the enforcement campaign, the Round Lake Police issued:
- 15 speeding citations
- 10 seat belt citations
- 2 distracted driver citation
- 2 suspended/ revoked driver’s license arrests
- 1 drug related arrests
- 1 felony warrant arrest pending
- 7 uninsured motor vehicle citations
- 7 other traffic related citations
Extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours, when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur.
The recent law enforcement campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
