SHOP SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY!

As you start to make your holiday shopping lists, please remember to shop local. Shopping locally creates jobs, fills shopping centers with stores, keeps money in town, provides you with unique gifts, and maintains the local economy.

Shop Small was started by American Express in 2010 in an effort to support local shops that make our communities strong. Make the holiday season, and every day, bright by shopping at your Round Lake businesses. Your community depends on you to make it thrive.

Business owners are encouraged to search “Shop Small” for more ideas on promoting your business.

**NEW- FALL 2018** Residential Rental Program

With more than 1,000 residential rental dwellings in the Village, at the October 15, 2018 Village Board meeting, the Village adopted a Residential Rental Program. The new program establishes an annual registration process and requires an inspection at every change of tenant, prior to occupancy.

The program was established to protect the health, safety and welfare of the people in the community. It also seeks to ensure that all rental units comply with the minimum housing standards regulated by Village ordinance, protect the character and stability of residential areas, and preserve the value of land and buildings throughout the Village.

All owners of a residential rental unit in the Village of Round Lake, whether in a multi-unit building or a single-family home, must register each unit and obtain a Certificate of Compliance prior to change of tenant. In order to obtain a Certificate of Compliance, the property owner must pass a Rental Occupancy Inspection. The Village has adopted the 2018 International Property Maintenance Code and will use this code as a basis for inspection.

All owners of residential rental property in the Village will receive a Rental Registration Packet in the mail.  Registration and payment are due no later than February 1st.
